2013 - First Giving Honor to God

In 2013, Chosen Generation Ministries continued to break new ground. The church had its first Sunday evening service, dubbed, Sunday Night Live, on January 13th and souls were richly blessed. The first preacher on a Sunday night was Evangelist Barbara Francis.
On Saturday, February 9, 2013, Chosen Generation Ministries hosted the Fight for the Family Conference. This dynamic and empowering conference was designed to equip parents and guardians with the tips, tools and insights required to raise godly, respectful and well-rounded children in today's society. Topics covered were: Boys to men
Single parenting, Raising Good Girls, Parenting by the Book, Keeping God in the Family and Caring for Children with Disabilities. The conference is in keeping with Chosen Generation Ministries' vision to change lives, glorify God and make a difference.

Sunday, February 17, 2013 was great day at Chosen Generation Ministries. We hosted our first Heritage Sunday service and dinner. The congregation was beautifully adorned in African outfits and after the service all sat down for a wonderful fellowship meal.

Friday, March 29 and Sunday March 31, was Chosen Generation Ministries first Easter weekend services, Good Friday and Easter/Resurrection Sunday services. Both services were well attended and all left know the real reason behind our observances. Good Friday's message: "The Lonely Walk to the Cross". Easter Sunday's Word: "Back to the Scene of the Crime".

Our first ever Prayer & Praise Breakfast took place on Saturday, March 30 at the Newmarket Community Centre. The saints, friends and well wishers of Chosen Generation all rallied to make this auspicious occasion a memorable one. The mornings proceedings were moderated by Lady Loraine Christie, while a sermonette, "Think it not strange" was shared by Evangelist Barbara Francis. In attendance were saints from Hamilton, Toronto, Brampton, Mississauga and support came from many places and homes from as far as Barrie.
Chosen Generation Ministries kicked it up a notch during the month for May when we hosted our first O'n'E Night Revival on Saturday, May 18, 2013. O'n'E, means, Outreach and Evangelism. Due to an emergency, our special guest speaker was unable to make it and God used Pastor Christie to preach a sound Word, entitled, "Do you have what it takes?".
The Sunday morning we celebrated our first Pentecost Sunday service and Oh, what a service it was. The word on the morning was, "One Accord - the Vehicle of Choice". During the night service God showed up as Evangelist Barbara Francis preached a dynamic message simply entitled, "The Invitation".
It must be stated also that during the months of May and June, Chosen Generation Ministries paid special tribute to the mothers (Mothers' Day) and the fathers (Fathers' day) in style. Both services were filled with tributes from the children and special gifts were handed out. At the end of the repective services each parent took a personal portrait with Pastor Christie and all joined in for a group shot at the end. The sermon on Mothers' Day was entitled, "The Best Advice a Mother can Give", while on Fathers' Day we heard, "That's just the way the Father is".
We ended out the month of May with our first ever Prayer Walk. This was promoted and was met with great success. Saints from near and far joined in by walking for an hour in their own neighbourhood.
At the end of June, we had to relocate from our Stellar Drive meeting place. For the next few weeks, services will be held a various venues but the Lord kept us together. Catering to the physical as well, Chosen Generation embarked upon its first Church Picnic, held at the beautiful Sibbalt Park, near the lake. It was a beautiful day in all aspects (July 13, 2013). The weather was great, the food, fun and fellowship was grand. A great time was had by all and without incident. To God be all the glory!
We paused to give thanks to God for all his blessings in the 12 months since we became a ministry. Yes, it was Chosen Generation Ministries' First Anniversary....with the theme, First Giving Honor to God. This was three service event; each held at a different venue, but that in no way affect the celebration. On the first night the preacher, Suff. Bishop Dr. Barrington Smith preached, "I'm taking it back". On the Saturday night, the preacher, Bishop Gilbert Bookal admonished us that, "Looking back is not an option". Minister Wayne Levers preached the last leg with a message entitled, "The only way".
On October 5, 2013 we took to the streets in our first Annual Walkathon. We helped to raise funds in support of our local Southlake Regional Hospital and towards the ministries of our church. The walkathon was well attended, lots of fun and under fair skies. Thanks to the expertise of Sis. Phoina and her team, this first walkahon was huge success. From the proceeds we honoured our commitment to the hospital and made a financial donation towards continued medical research and much needed equipment.
